Fall is one of our favorite times of year to get out of the city and experience beautiful colors and scenery. Here’s a great day trip itinerary that will keep your whole family entertained. Best of all, these are all hidden gems that are not very crowded so maintaining social distancing will be a breeze!
Visit the Long Island Game Farm in Manorville. It’s a charming 28-acre farm and zoo with plenty of opportunities for feeding and interacting with animals such as deer and baby goats. Concession stands are open for snacks, which is a plus. Currently open Tuesday – Saturday from 11:30AM – 9:00PM and Sunday from 11:30AM – 8:00PM. Children under 3 are free. Children 3-11 and Seniors are $14.95 + tax and adults are $16.95 + tax.
Once you are ready for lunch, head over to Lucharitos at at 177 Main Street in Center Moriches. In addition to serving up great Mexican food with plenty of outdoor seating, the restaurant is located on a small farm. Little ones will enjoy exploring the children’s play area or strolling through the gardens. They are closed on Monday and open from 11:30AM – 9:00pm on Tuesday – Saturday and Sunday from 11:30AM – 8:00PM.
Another great stop is Waterdrinker Family Farm in Manorville. They currently have a fall festival happening along with an upcoming sunflower festival. Pumpkin picking is available (with free admission to the pumpkin patch) and there are other activities available with the price of admission including hay rides, farm animals and a corn maze. They are currently open 7 days a week from 10AM-5pm. Admission is $15 on the weekends and $10 on the weekdays.
